How should I store The Seaweed Bath Co. products?

We recommend storing The Seaweed Bath Co. products in a cool, dark place until ready for use. Once opened, our Wildly Natural Seaweed Powder Bath and Ocean-FreshWhole Seaweed Bath should be stored in the airtight containers provided and can be stored next to your bathtub for easy access.

Is a bathtub required to use The Seaweed Bath Co. products?

While we recommend using The Seaweed Bath Co. products in the bathtub, many of our customers soak only a portion of their body (hands, feet, elbows, etc.) in our products by using the sink, a bowl or a similar container filled with warm water and our product. The seaweed in our Whole Seaweed Bath can be soaked in water and then wrapped around a portion of your body.

Are The Seaweed Bath Co. products safe for Children under 12?

Yes. Children who are 12 and older can safely use all of The Seaweed Bath Co. products as directed and when appropriate. We encourage all of our young customers to err on the side of caution when using our products and always discontinue use if any irritation occurs. For babies under 24 months of age, it is best to keep the use of any products on the skin to a minimum.

Are The Seaweed Bath Co. products safe for people with allergies?

The Seaweed Bath Co. lists all of its ingredients on its labels and on its website. We encourage you to review the ingredients prior to purchasing our products. Please note that some of our natural ingredients, including Kukui Oil and Argan Oil, are derived from nuts and therefore may be dangerous to those who may have food allergies. My name is Adam Grossman and I am the founder of The Seaweed Bath Co., LLC.  I know first-hand about the everyday challenges of psoriasis and eczema, as I am a long-time psoriasis sufferer who struggled daily to find ways to improve the condition of my skin.

Psoriasis and eczema are chronic skin diseases, for which there is currently no cure.  The severe skin inflammation and irritation associated with psoriasis and eczema leads to dry, itchy, red, flaking and scaling skin. 

After trying numerous "miracle" treatments and meeting with countless psoriasis specialists, I hopelessly watched as my flaking, scaling, and red skin worsened.  Psoriasis took its toll on me both physically and emotionally.

My first psoriasis symptoms appeared on my head. I had no clue what it was. My skin then became very red and started itching, scaling and flaking. Before long, I had moderate to severe psoriasis on my head, knees, feet, elbows, thighs and worst of all, my hands. After getting out of the shower, my skin would literally drip off my hands. I spent thousands of dollars on different creams and ointments to try to get rid of the disease, only to find that my psoriasis symptoms would always come back worse than before. My journey, which ultimately led me to founding The Seaweed Bath Co., was simply fueled by my fear of the long-term damage I was doing to myself using pharmaceutical medicines.

After deciding against biologics, I set out to find natural alternative ways to fight my psoriasis symptoms and soothe his itching, flaking and scaling skin. After all, psoriasis is a chronic disease and I didn't want to spend the rest of my life hiding.

My dermatologists suggested that I soak in the ocean as often as possible. After spending time in the ocean, I always felt and saw a noticeable improvement in my flaking, red skin. Having read many articles and hearing success stories in online community forums and psoriasis and eczema blogs about how the ocean's nutrients improve the effects of psoriasis and eczema for many sufferers, I took note. Recognizing the difficulty I had in finding the time and resources to soak in the ocean every day, I searched for a feasible way to bring the ocean into my own home to treat and soothe my psoriasis on a daily basis.

I focused my studies on two popular natural alternative methods often used to improve scaling, flaking and red skin: Thalassotherapy and Balneotherapy.

Through this learning process, I quickly discovered the substantial benefits of seaweed and how Americans with skin conditions were starting to use it more and more.  While seaweed is a relatively new ingredient used to fight flaking and scaling skin in North America, Northern European and Asian cultures have used seaweed plucked from frigid, nutrient-rich waters for centuries to alleviate the conditions that lead to irritated and red skin.

After countless hours of online and offline discussions and research, which included many hours soaking in the bath tub, I found that certain varieties of seaweed effectively and dramatically reduced the redness, dryness, scaling and flaking of my irritated skin.  The brown seaweed which we use in all our products is known to be a potent natural anti-inflammatory. We are working with the University of Manitoba in Canada to further their already substantial research on the effects of brown seaweed on skin conditions including psoriasis.  My experience was proof enough however. After using seaweed-based formulas for only a short period of time, my flaking and scaling diminished and the redness of his skin faded. Over the course of months, I completely stopped my topicals steroids and have not had to go back on them since.
