Goldenberries are succulent, marble-size golden fruits. Also known as cape gooseberry and agauaymanto berry, the goldenberry is native to Colombia and Peru, and can be found growing in warm climates on many continents, including Africa, Asia, and the Americas.

Goldenberries, or Physalis peruviana, can be found in markets from Venezuela to Chile. In Europe, they have become a favorite exotic fruit, and upscale markets pay premium prices for them. Both tart and sweet, they are used internationally in jams, sauces, pies, and puddings. They are best known in the United States as a preserve with the Hawaiian name of "poha."

Really tasty berries that remind me of all the sour candy that i used to eat as a kid but without all the burning holes in my mouth. Fills a flavor niche that is nearly impossible if one is trying to eat healthy. Apparently these are a superfood?
