More About Humic Minerals
For millennia nature has recycled life’s most essential nutrients in a constant process of regeneration. Recent scientific research has revealed that humates resulting from natural decomposition contain all the essential nutrients necessary for proper metabolism. These “lifegiving” nutrients are now available in convenient capsules and liquid.
Nature’s Own Recycling System
Vitality Boost supplements from Morningstar Minerals provide one of the best sources of organic, bio-available minerals, amino acids, and trace elements available today. Vitality Boost supplements contain high levels of organic, bio-available humic and fulvic acid, the two essential compounds that result from nature’s own process of recycling the elements of life. Humic and fulvic acid have been found to play an important role in cell metabolism, acting as carriers of essential nutrients into and metabolic wastes out of the cell. They also act to convert some waste products into useful materials within the cell.
Valuable Nutrients from the Age of Dinosaurs
Vitality Boost supplements are formulated from naturally occurring fresh water humic shale mined from the Fruitland Formation in northwestern New Mexico. This shale, rich in natural organic humates, is the remains of a huge shallow fresh water sea that existed during the time of the dinosaurs. Morningstar Mineral Humates are all natural and organic.
Contained in Vitality Boost products are all the necessary ingredients for life: phyto-chemicals resulting from plant photosynthesis and important to proper health, amino acids used in DNA & RNA repair and synthesis, and a whole host of minerals and trace elements that result from the trapping and conversion of sunlight into the chemical energy so necessary to all life on earth.
Building Blocks for a Healthy Life
Vitality Boost products provide some of the most important building blocks of life. People taking humic and fulvic acid supplements have reported increases in energy, higher tolerance to stress, improved resistance to illness, and faster recovery from the aches and pains of life.
Recent laboratory research has demonstrated fulvic acid to be one of the most efficient cellular electrolytes known to mankind. Researchers believe that in the presence of fulvic acid cellular processes operate at peak efficiency. Humic and fulvic acid have been demonstrated to be highly efficient chelators of minerals and trace elements for transport through cell membranes, a process without which life on earth could not exist.
Laboratory testing suggests that humic compounds are also very effective at neutralizing toxic effects of heavy metals and other potentially harmful by-products, some of which are actually necessary, in trace quantities, for proper cell health.
Morningstar Minerals Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
The only way we can take in all of the minerals we need for optimum health is to take a supplement. The difficulty is in knowing which supplement to take. The information provided here, in the frequently asked questions (FAQ) section, is intended to assist in that choice. This information can be verified by your independent research and is not intended to be used for diagnosis or for the determination of treatment. Diagnosis should always be undertaken by a qualified health care professional of your choice.
What makes a mineral available?
Minerals exist in two forms: as metals and as organic substances. The human body is not designed to absorb and use minerals in metallic form. Organic minerals are metals that have been chelated and have thereby become bio-available. Minerals are chelated by being dissolved in fulvic acid, which is a part of humic substances. When a mineral is chelated by being dissolved in fulvic acid, the fulvic acid combines with the mineral to form organic mineral complexes that can be used in plant and animal metabolism. Fulvic acid organic mineral complexes pass easily through the semi-permeable cell wall and perform metabolic functions that metallic minerals cannot. This simple factor has moved them up a notch on the food chain and puts them in a form that plants and the human body can use.
Fulvic acid can be used to chelate minerals by placing the two together in appropriate amounts. The chelation process does not need to take place in the soil or in a plant, but can occur in our stomachs just as effectively. They then form bio-available organic mineral complexes that are immediately available to us. Morningstar Minerals products are all natural and chelation occurs naturally by the dissolving of colloidal metallic minerals in fulvic acid.
What is humate?
Humate (carobonatious shale) is formed from massive deposits of prehistoric vegetation. This layer was built up over thousands of years through the natural processes of life and death. Humic substances is a generic term for the complex of acids found in humate, and in the soil and plants around us. The remains of plants deposited in layers in New Mexico range from a few inches to as much as 50 feet in thickness.
The beneficial substances found in humate are predominately carbon, chelated minerals, amino acids, and humic and fulvic acids. Perhaps the most important humic substance is fulvic acid, the beneficial properties of which have been documented by a number of universities and scientists around the world.
What is a colloidal mineral?
A colloid is a small mineral particle that keeps its identity and is capable of being in liquid suspension. This does not mean this particle is liquid, only that it is small enough to be suspended in water. In themselves colloids, which are metallic, are not usable by the body. They need the presence of fulvic acid to chelate them and render them usable by the body.
The vast majority of colloidal mineral supplements on the market today consist of metallic mineral colloids. Some manufacturers contend that the small size makes it possible for the colloidal mineral to pass through the membrane of a cell wall. While this may be the case, the metal is still a metal mineral that has not been chelated. Hence colloidal minerals are not organic and are not bio-available.
In our view non-chelated colloidal minerals are not as safe as the naturally chelated minerals we see in our supplements. This is because colloidal minerals are metals and may remain in the body until a potentially harmful concentration has been reached.
What is volcanic material?
The volcanic material used in Morningstar Minerals products originates in the magma flows deep inside the earth. It comes to the earth’s surface through volcanic action and is the best available representation of the mineral composition of the earth. Volcanic material contains metallic minerals that are naturally chelated by the action of the humic and fulvic acids in humate.
What is fulvic acid? Where is it found?
Fulvic acid is a part of the humic structure of rich, composting soil. It is created by microbes working on decaying matter in a soil environment. Hence it exists in all rich soils that have not been degraded through improper farming methods and the use of modern chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Fulvic acid also is found in plants, which take it into themselves and use it in their metabolism, and then pass it on to us when we eat plants rich in fulvic acid. Fulvic acid is found in usable form in humate also. Fulvic acid from humic deposits usually carry 60 or more minerals and trace elements in organic complexes that are necessary for life.
It is possible that fulvic acid is the single most important substance for life as we know it. Without fulvic acid, no mineral can be safely absorbed into a living plant or animal.
What are fulvic acid’s metabolic effects?
Some of the more important effects of fulvic acid are:
- Fulvic acid is one of the most powerful natural antioxidants and free radical scavengers known.
- Fulvic acid is a detoxification agent. Heavy metals and other pollutants are either altered into new usable (bio-available) products or are eliminated as waste by virtue of being transformed into material that the body can manage.
- Fulvic acid enhances and increases the absorption of other compounds such as herbs, vitamins, tinctures, minerals, and foods with which it is combined.
- Fulvic acid transports vitamins into the cells and acts as a catalyst in the use of vitamins in the cell.
Why is supplementation necessary?
Farming practices as we know them rely on a very limited number of concentrated chemicals for fertilization of the land. These chemical fertilizers, because they are in no way natural in form, have the effect of destroying the microbes that make fulvic acid in the humus in the soil. The result is that minerals become unavailable to the crops being grown. What minerals are available are quickly taken from the soil. Many farmers do not take the effort to replace these in the soil, as replacement requires resting the fields for up to a year and the ongoing replacement of humus and other materials which would result in the return of the beneficial microbes. The result is that we grow food that is not fully mineralized and does not provide us with all of the minerals we require for optimum metabolism and health.
Without the presence of an adequate amount of fulvic acid and organic mineral complexes, our food grows and sustains us, but does not provide all the minerals and nutrients that should be present. The result is that we become deficient in nutrients and more susceptible to degenerative diseases.
